The Young and The Restless has a big reason to celebrate this year, and it’s bringing back one of its fan-favorite actors to commemorate its 50th anniversary on CBS.
On Monday, May 8, the Criminal Minds actor will reprise his role as Malcolm Winters. In the episode, Malcolm returns to town to reconnect with Lily (Christel Khalil) and Devon and Nate (Bryton James and Sean Dominic). The news of his return was announced by Deadline.

Shemar Moore’s Career
Shemar Moore played Malcolm Winters on the show from 1994 until his departure in 2005. Since leaving the series, Shemar has made multiple cameos on the soap opera, most notably in 2019 for a special tribute episode following the passing of Kristoff St. John, who portrayed Moore’s on-screen brother Neil. Moore credits St. John for launching his career, stating that St. John handpicked him for the role and specifically requested to have him play his brother in the show. Moore revealed that he owes much of his success to St. John, saying, “Without him, I wouldn’t be in this business the way that I am today, or maybe not even at all.” He would later star in Criminal Minds and currently portrays Sergeant Daniel ‘Hondo’ Harrelson on S.W.A.T., whose seventh season is in doubt.
Moore has earned eight NAACP Image Awards in addition to the Daytime Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2000 for his role as Malcolm on The Young and the Restless.
Shemar Moore Becomes A Father
During his visit to The Jennifer Hudson Show in early January, he disclosed that the due date of his unborn child had a significant significance. The anniversary of his mother’s passing is February 8 and noted that his baby was due on the same day. His daughter Frankie ended up making her debut earlier than expected, as his girlfriend, Jesiree Dizon gave birth to their beautiful baby girl on January 24.
I am beyond excited for Shemar Moore’s return to The Young and The Restless. Longtime fans such as myself can’t wait to see him back in Genoa City. He undoubtedly has made such a great contribution to the show and fans are thrilled that he is taking part in the 50th anniversary celebration.
