Kennedy Center Honors 2023: A Celebration of Artistic Achievement

The Kennedy Center has announced the names of its 2023 class of honorees. On December 3rd, a ceremony will be held to recognize their outstanding artistic contributions. This year’s honorees include Billy Crystal, Queen Latifah, Dionne Warwick, Barry Gibb, and Renée Fleming.

Billy Crystal: A Comedic Legend

With his performances in films like “When Harry Met Sally” and “City Slickers,” Billy Crystal has cemented his status as one of the most beloved comedians of our time. Kennedy Center Chairman David M. Rubenstein wrote that Crystal is “responsible for some of the most memorable stand-up moments and hilarious Hollywood scenes in the last half-century.”

Queen Latifah: The First Lady of Hip Hop

Queen Latifah is a multi-talented artist who has wowed us all with her versatility. From her groundbreaking hip-hop career to her exceptional performances in films such as “Chicago” and “The Equalizer,” Queen Latifah has demonstrated her expertise as an artist and storyteller. She said she was beyond grateful for the recognition, stating, “When we started on this journey decades ago, we were often told ‘No.’ No, you won’t be able to leave New Jersey. If you rap, you can’t sing. Singers can’t become actresses. Actors can’t also produce. To now be recognized amongst so many multi-hyphenates feels unbelievable”.

Kennedy Center Honors 2023:  How to Watch

The upcoming Kennedy Center Honors 2023 will be a celebration of the incredible achievements of exceptional artists. Specifically, Queen Latifah, Billy Crystal, Renée Fleming, Barry Gibb, and Dionne Warwick will be recognized for their valuable contributions to the arts. Moreover, the awards ceremony will be televised on CBS and streamed on Paramount+ on December 3rd. Additionally, the event will be hosted for the third time by Gloria Estefan, a former honoree and renowned singer.
